Marissa is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor who works with ages 3+, adolescents, and adult women. She earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Play Therapy from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC) in August 2021.

Marissa believes that therapy is a collaborative journey, where the counselor and client work together to foster meaningful, lasting change. She views the therapeutic relationship as the foundation for transformation and is committed to building a strong, trusting connection with each client.

Taking an integrative approach to therapy, Marissa tailors her methods to the unique needs and goals of each client. She incorporates a blend of evidence-based techniques, including person-centered therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and play therapy. This personalized approach allows Marissa to offer the most effective treatment plan, ensuring her clients receive the support they need to grow and heal.

Marissa is particularly passionate about using child-centered play therapy to empower young clients. She provides a safe and nurturing environment where children can express themselves freely, build resilience, and develop emotional skills. For adolescents, teens, and adult women, Marissa offers a holistic, integrative approach to address a wide range of mental health concerns, from anxiety and depression to life transitions and self-esteem challenges.

In addition to individual therapy, Marissa works closely with parents and guardians to provide Child-Parent Relationship Training (CPRT), helping to strengthen family connections and improve communication. Her experience spans diverse settings, including schools, private homes, and telehealth platforms, allowing her to offer flexible and accessible services to meet her clients' needs.

Marissa also brings a global perspective to her practice, having studied abroad in Spain, which enhances her ability to work with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.
